nuclear power part 2

Nuclear power generates way more energy than any other power plant known to exist. However, the plants generate radioactive waste that must be stored in special storage centers deep in the earth for a thousand years. Also, nuclear meltdowns are catastrophic and severely damage the environment. However, the possibility of this happening is small and with the new AP1000/AP600 model nuclear meltdowns can be almost eliminated. The AP1000 has a 300,000 gallon water tower at the top of the reactor. If a nuclear meltdown occurred, the water tank wood flood the reactor using the power of gravity instead of having emergency pumps which can fail providing water too cool down the reactor. It also has a 3.5 times thicker contaminate vessel which would help prevent the radioactive waste from escaping in a meltdown. The AP1000 has a lot less safety valves, pumps, and pipes; it relies on gravity powered water tanks in case of a emergency pump failure. I believe that our future should be Nuclear due to the fact that the new models are almost meltdown-proof and they generate 16,000 times more energy than coal for the same amount of fuel.
