Fossil fuel solutions part 2

Worlds largest hydro turbine blade

Wind-turbines are a great way to harness high wind speeds of storms and turn it into electricity. They are 100% pollution free and can be placed into the ocean  for higher wind speeds. One reason why they generate so much power is that they have extremely long blades (260 ft is the world record) that the wind pushes to turn a generator. The formula Work= Force x Distance is a major reason why wind turbines generate so much electricity; since the blades can be 260ft long (as tall as a 30 floor skyscraper)  the power can be 260 times the force of the wind. Another reason why Wind turbines generate so much power is when their are storms like hurricanes wind speeds can be extremely high. Unfortunately, most wind turbines are not designed for speeds as high as a hurricane do to the expense so they lock the blades preventing any electrical power from being generated. P.S buy your own micro wind turbine and hook it up to the grid, you can save lots of money, especially if you live by the beach.
