TRUMP HEALTH CARE

Can't talk about it. It never passed Congress.

Obama Care:  red means negative and green means positive and orange means neutral

1: Banned insurance companies from denying coverage to people with pre-existing conditions.

This means that if you eat McDonald's every day and smoke 2 packs, the insurance company can't increase your rates or deny coverage. On the flip side, if you undergo genetic testing and have a predisposed condition of cancer, they can't deny coverage.

Personally, I don't care for this policy. This is why health insurance can be very expensive. But simultaneously, it can help you if you have a serious illness. So this is why I rated it neutral.

In a Free Market world, some insurance companies might want to capitalize on the the tens of millions of people who have cancer, diabetes, etc while others might specifically target people who eat Healthy and Exercise Daily (pre-existing conditions). In the end, sick people will still get "ok" coverage while the healthy people will be happy that their insurance costs are low. Also, by not having this policy, it creates incentives for people to not smoke, eat bad food, etc or else they will be stuck buying more expensive health insurance.

2:  Kids do not have to buy health insurance until 26 y/o since they will be able to stay on their parent's plan.

Not Bad. Good policy.

3: All health insurance must cover certain treatments.

This means that for a select number of treatments like drug addiction, emergency room, etc. must be covered. Their rational was that if someone who didn't have money received a $ 50,000 bill and since they can't be denied treatment..... This would never happen as insurance would cover it.

I think that this is not necessary as a Free Market would fix it. Ex. If you bought a plan that doesn't cover addiction treatment, and you don't do drugs,  you might save $100 every year since your rates are lower.
Or if you take you calcium every

This is highly subjective, viewpoints may vary.

4: Gives financial help to "poor" people, ......blah blah via tax credits on premiums blah blah...

This is another reason why your taxes are so high. The definition of poor here is 4x the poverty level. If you have the money you can buy a big mansion or if you are poor you can only buy a trailer. How is it different in regards to health insurance should we give tax credits so the poor guy can buy a mansion ?

This costed tax payers $ 800 BILLION

This is highly subjective, viewpoints vary.

5:   30 million people lost their current insurance plans because "they did not follow ACA standards"

10% of the population who were perfectly happy lost their plans.

6: Expand Medicaid/CHIP (Health insurance for poor people).

Costed tax payers $ 931 BILLION

CONCLUSION: Costed us almost $ 2 trillion. BAD
