Nuclear Weapons

Nuclear Weapon Silo

It is believed that there is a correlation between overpopulation and war. As resources get depleted. tensions grow between nations. Conditions worsen-- goods like oil, electricity, water, agriculture become scarce;  ultimately war may occur. However, the possession of nuclear weapons presents a problem. Not only are there many notorious accounts of accidents that were very close to starting a Nuclear War, if they are used, we could be in a "mighty load of trouble." When used, we could permanently change the landscape of million square mile regions.

It is important to have a nuclear disarmament. However, it is not a complete solution. It is quite reasonable that they could just "make a new one". One highly effective, long term solution would be to make the consumption of resources lower than the rate they nature supplies them. An international regulation that would make countries follow this rule would be difficult but important. Most wars are over resources, by creating an adequate supply of resources for everyone, countries will be "happy" and have no need for war.  Subsets of this solution would include: the investment in ways of farming agriculture underground or on the ocean (and in space); mining  resources from asteroids might prove to be beneficial in maintaining a adequate supply of materials that are necessary for a modern life. There are other solutions too, colonizing Mars and turning it into a giant city, this could make earth less populated which could help prevent a war. Terraforming Mars would be expensive but imagine let's say, we used our 19 trillion dollar debt money to terraform. See terraforming post.
